    Description

    This is a pair of Charga-Plate tokens. Originally developed in 1928 the Charga-Plate tokens were a early predecessor to the credit card that were used in the US from the 1930's to the late 1950's. Each 2 1/2" by 1 1/8" aluminum plate had the owners name and address stamped into the plate and the stores that accepted the Charga-Plate token would take a imprint of the plate when the customer purchased items on credit and they would send the customer the bill just like today. Both of these Charga-Plate tokens were issued to the same customer in Fairview Park Ohio and they are a early piece of credit card history.
