JIMI HENDRIX 1970 Tulsa Oklahoma Reproduction Concert PosterThis is a high quality lithograph reproduction concert poster for Jimi Hendrix's appearance in Tulsa OK at the Tulsa Assembly Center Sunday June 7 1970. Jimi Hendrix is considered one of the greatest and most influential guitarists in rock music history. Hendrix was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. His star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was dedicated in 1994 and Rolling Stone Magazine named Hendrix number 1 on their list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2003.
After the ill-fated Band of Gypsys trio disbanded earlier that year, Hendrix's manager Michael Jeffery flew Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding over from England to begin press for the upcoming American Tour dates as a reunited Jimi Hendrix Experience. Before the tour began however, Jimi fired Redding from the band and reinstated Billy Cox. Fans refer to this final Hendrix/Cox/Mitchell lineup as the Cry of Love band, named after the tour. This "Cry of Love" tour begun in April and ending in August featured Hendrix, Cox, and Mitchell playing new material alongside extended versions of older recordings. The tour included 30 shows, a number of which were professionally recorded and produced some of Hendrix's most memorable live performances. This poster is from the height of his career, which tragically ended a short three months later with his being found dead in September in London. This historic poster from this show of that memorable last American tour is a high quality reproduction on heavy stock, measures approx. 13 x 19" and is in mint condition. FREE handbills included!
