Nice condition with only minimal dog-ears on  few pages
***Rumor circulated at the time was that the company had stopped production of this specific issue of the  catalog, and had attempted to recall those already published. Now this was 1980, so the "stories" out there must have been carried by newspapers or maybe just word of mouth. Typically, our family received a number of Wards' catalogs each year, and we would discard the older ones when new catalogs were issued. But this 1980 issue was saved---because of the story that circulated about an "off-color message" inside its covers. The message would have only minor  if any  shock value at present, but this was 1980.
The story was that a disgruntled employee, during the printing process, concealed a message on Page 122 which told the world how he felt, and used "colorful" language to do so. The message was written, unobtrusively I must say, on the wall area to the left of the bedroom curtains. That page is pictured; it's up to the viewer to decipher it.
