    Description

    Early 1900’s 5 different Hale Brothers & Company Department Store, Sacramento, California, Yosemite National Park prints.  The large heavy paper (cannot bend) prints are 11 ¾ x 13 ¾ inches in size.  The prints are of different early scenes inside Yosemite Valley inside Yosemite National Park The scenes are titled
    THE HALF DOME,
    NEVADA FALLS,
    VERNAL FALLS,
    CATHEDRAL ROCKS,
    GENERAL VIEW
    The prints state in part
    “COMPLIMENTS OF HALE BROTHER’S & CO., NINTH AND K STREETS, SACRAMENTO”
    One print has a sms two one inch tears, one at the top edge and the other at the bottom edge.  The prints do some light wear to a few corners and overall are in nice condition, especially for the age.

    In 1880
    Prentis Cobb Hale
    and his two brothers opened the Criterion store in
    Downtown Sacramento
    , and in 1881 they renamed it Hale Brothers & Company.

    (1896), Salinas, Stockton and Petaluma, and via an acquisition of Whitthorne & Swann in 1906, Oakland.

    The San Jose store was at the corner of 1st and San Carlos. The San Francisco store was first located at 989 Market Street, then moved to 901 Market at Fifth in a building designed by
