This is a super rare wooden bus toy / advertising novelty from THE FAIR - Chicago Department Store. “A Great Store - In A Great City” Made by Universal Toy and Novelty co, which produced wooden toys from the 1920s - 1940s. The back still displays part of that company decal. Overall condition is excellent with minor wear. Very clean. Measures about 11.25” long and is pretty heavy.

THE FAIR department store was founded in 1874, and had a flagship store at State and Adams in Chicago. In 1925, the business was sold to SS Kresge but kept the name and expanded. In 1957 Montgomery Ward purchased it and would keep THE FAIR name through 1963 and by 1964, they were all named after the parent company.
